Chris Herron at Tall Tale TV has just podcast one of my few 'magical' stories. It's about a mysterious man with a musical instrument called a 'hurdy gurdy.' From my collection of speculative fiction: 'Dead People on Facebook' which is available on Amazon Kindle, it's FREE, short and rather mysterious.

50th Anniversary of the wreck of the Francis Holmes

  FREE to download 22nd to 24th Aug 2025 Fifty years ago this month I was working as a mechanic at an oil terminal on the coast of Libya. As I was walking from one maintenance job to another I looked out to sea and saw that the ship that worked in the bay on which the divers lived, had exploded. There was a huge mushroom cloud above the Francis Holmes. Six men were killed in that explosion and many more badly burned. I still think about the accident to this day. To honour the men who died, most of whom were Maltese, I offer my book 'A Horse in the Morning' free to download for a few days. 'A Horse in the Morning' is the memoir of an engineer, teacher, actor, writer and failed astronaut. The stories are funny, dramatic, sometimes mysterious, and told with quirky British understatement.   I was inspired to write 'Nighthawks’ by the Rodgers and Hart song ‘Where or When’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbnA78ravpY  and the Edward Hopper painting ‘Nighthawks’. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nighthawks_(Hopper) I've tried to evoke a 1930s feel but set in a futuristic situation. A nice trick if you can pull it off.
